Our commitment
We work on busy, high-risk sites: ports, industrial yards, recycling plants, distribution depots and commercial facilities. Every activity is planned, controlled and supervised.
We comply with the Health and Safety at Work etc. Act 1974, CDM 2015 and the regulations that apply to our work, including MHSWR, PUWER, LOLER, COSHH and the Work at Height Regulations, plus any rules our clients set for their sites.
A document on its own keeps nobody safe. Safety comes from planning, communication and the decisions our supervisors and operatives make every day, so that is where we put our effort.
Who is responsible
- Our Director, Ben Duffy, holds overall accountability for health and safety and reviews the whole system every year
- A dedicated health and safety co-ordinator runs the system day to day: RAMS, inspections, monthly audits and the training matrix
- Independent external advisors carry out quarterly audits and support investigations
- Supervisors lead on site: daily briefings, inductions, checking work follows the approved RAMS and stepping in straight away if something is unsafe
- Every operative takes responsibility for their own safety and their colleagues'
How we control the work
- Hazards identified from site surveys, client input and pre-construction information before work starts
- Task-specific risk assessments and method statements, approved before work begins
- Permits to work for hot works, confined spaces, digging near utilities and work on or near live services
- A properly set-up site: segregated plant and pedestrian routes, barriers, fencing, lighting, signage, first aid and CDM-compliant welfare
- Full PPE as a minimum, with extra protection where the task needs it
- Plant and vehicle movements controlled with segregation, competent operators and planned traffic routes
Recorded in Procore
Inductions, briefings, toolbox talks, inspections, observations and incident reports are all recorded in Procore. Everyone works from the latest approved RAMS, actions are tracked until they're closed, and you can see the record.
Incidents and near misses are reported straight away and investigated to find the root cause, not to blame. What we learn is shared across every team.
Trained and competent
- Industry cards and tickets including CSCS, CPCS, NPORS, SSSTS and SMSTS, tracked on a training matrix
- Extra training for high-risk work: confined spaces, first aid, manual handling, abrasive wheels and lifting operations
- Refresher training, mentoring and skills checks, because competence isn't a one-off
Our record
Zero RIDDOR-reportable incidents and zero lost-time injuries in the three years to January 2025.
Supervisors inspect weekly, our co-ordinator audits monthly and independent advisors audit quarterly. The policy is reviewed every year.
