Peter Brearley set up P&K Brearley in Rochdale in 1986, taking on general groundworks.
His son Paul joined in 2010 as we took on more industrial work. Yards carrying HGVs and heavy plant every day were being built like ordinary slabs, and when they failed, the site paid twice: once for the repair and again in lost operations.
So we built the business to do it properly. Over the past six years we have grown into a 30-strong team with our own one-acre yard, our own plant and our own saw cutting division.
Renamed PKB Civils in 2022, we now deliver around 90% of our work ourselves: concrete, drainage, surfacing and retaining walls. For specialist parts such as racking, lighting towers and cladding, we bring in trusted partners and manage them as principal contractor.
